Police investigating after dozens of shots fired into Rock Hill home

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Dozens of rounds were fired, hitting a Rock Hill home Wednesday night, according to police.

Officers responded at around 9:30 p.m. to a home on South Confederate Avenue, where they found 41 shell casings on the road and 26 bullet holes in the side of the house.

The homeowner was inside at the time of the shooting, and told police he heard bullets flying into his home.

Investigators said no one was hurt.

“Those bullets, they’re not going to stop right away. They’re eventually going to stop somewhere and hit somebody,” neighbor Eric Revering said.

No arrests have been made at this point, but detectives are investigating whether the shooting is connected to a triple homicide on Gist Road in Rock Hill that happened a day earlier. A 16-year-old and 17-year-old have been charged in connection with that deadly shooting.

“We are investigating it thoroughly and always look for any correlations to other incidents, so that is something that is being examined,” a spokesperson for Rock Hill police said.

Leaders said the violence has taken a toll on everyone in the area.

“We were certainly taken a back by these recent events. They certainly shook the city,” said Bump Roddey, with York County City Council.

Police have not released any other details at this point.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Rock Hill Police Department.
