Italian jewelry company Cameo Italiano participated in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for the fourth consecutive year. It saw the vitality of the Chinese market and began to expand its business in the country.

"China is becoming one of our largest markets, with more than 60% export potential," said company owner Gino Di Luca. "The CIIE is an ideal platform for us. We can showcase our very special products here, and from there we can feel the vitality and vitality of the Chinese market."

Di Luca said that he expects that his business in China will grow substantially after opening a base in Shanghai in April. The company plans to open 12 stores between December 2021 and November 2022 and expects retail sales of 20 million U.S. dollars in 2022.

"This is a very encouraging start because we look forward to meeting with potential investors during the CIIE and in December, which may evolve into the strong development of our brand in the Chinese market," said the owner.

Cameo Italiano is a family business from the Gulf of Naples, located in the seaside town of Torre del Greco. Generations of people have been creating their own style-turning shells into exquisite jewelry.

It is one of many Italian companies that wish to export to China not only products, but also culture and heritage.

The first stage of Cameo Italiano production was to study the shells to determine how they should be carved. The company employs 40 master jewelry engravers, most of whom were born in this industry.

Di Luca explained: "Our craft is a very complex and delicate process, and there is no room for error."

Approximately 60 Italian companies will participate in the six-day Shanghai World Expo starting on Friday. Hundreds of people participated in the first three years.

In 2019, Italy became the first G7 country to join China's “One Belt One Road” initiative, and investment between the two countries increased. In the first five months of 2021, Italy's exports to China increased by 75%, the highest increase among China's European trading partners.

Mario Boselli, chairman of the Italy-China Foundation, said that the "Made in Italy" brand has value in China. "Chinese consumers are becoming more and more interested in high-end products. The "Made in Italy" label on the product is a signal. s things."
