The vendor Marketplace at the upcoming Branford Garden Club Flower Show, promises to be a vibrant artisan fair, to hear its organizer Anda Weyher tell it.
The Marketplace will fill the gymnasium at the Joe Trapasso Community House with color this weekend, featuring some two dozen vendors.
At The Marketplace, Weyher said, shoppers will see “many one-of-a-kind items to keep or gift. There’s something very special in finding a one-of-a-kind item, often most beloved and memorable.”
Among the distinctive items featured are flower-themed miniature stained glass villages; pillow covers made from exquisite textiles from Vietnam; decorative hand-painted oyster shells with local shore themes; and stationery with delicate botanical designs from antique woodcuts and engravings.
Pottery, handmade jewelry from local artisans, wearable art in metal and fiber, floral pashmina scarves blooming with color and coastal home accessories from Branford boutiques add to the mix.
Weyher has enjoyed her search for unique vendors to fill the Marketplace. She spent weeks curating the show.
“When I travel just about anywhere I delight in finding artisanal offerings not available from Amazon or chain stores whose merchandise has no ties to local or regional tradespeople,” Weyher said.
And the vendors reflect her personal style as well, she said.
Weyher had worked in wholesale for a decade for Ralph Lauren womenswear and had also owned her own children’s clothing shop for 25 years in New Canaan where she showcased brands with a “classic point of view with a twist” and with the “best European and American vendors represented.”
“The Marketplace will showcase a mix of bohemian, classic and nautical treasures with naturally, an emphasis on garden-related themes,” Weyher said.
