Next time you see Senator Kamala Harris (Kamala Harris) during a campaign, pay close attention to her accessories.

The Democratic vice presidential candidate likes pearls very much. Over the years, this exquisite gem has become her iconic accessory.

The senator often wears a double-stranded pearl necklace on special occasions, such as when Joe Biden officially made her his running mate in August.

At a press conference in Delaware that same month, Harris matched her blue suit and white shirt with the same necklace.

She also showed this style in several public appearances in 2019, such as when she spoke at the Presidential Candidate Forum in Des Moines, Iowa.

This is not the first time a politician has become interested in pearls, but Harris' love of this elegant gem seems to go back many years.

When she was a student at Howard University, Harris was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, which claimed to be "the oldest Greek alphabet organization established by college-educated African-American women."

The organization affectionately refers to its founders and founders as "twenty pearls." Obviously this gem has a special meaning to its members.

The organization wrote on Facebook in 2017: “Pearls are defined as precious things; the best example. Pearls are often displayed to demonstrate their value and treated in a way that reflects their precious nature. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and More than 290,000 members worldwide are pearls."

When graduating from university in 1986, Harris wore a single-strand pearl necklace and matching earrings.

Over time, pearls have become Harris’s iconic accessories, and Harris often wears pearls at work.

The senator tends to prefer classic white pearls, but sometimes changes his mind.

Over the years, she sometimes wears black pearl necklaces for various activities.
