After all, Bangor is likely to usher in a white Christmas

There are many places in 2021 that are much better than 2020, but in other respects, the situation is almost worse. This whole "return to normal" thing is like recovering from a vasectomy. It was just a bumpy and awkward journey, which almost felt normal, but far from it.

However, a concept that has made the past few years more acceptable. It seems that people of all faiths like to go back to some ancient traditions to make themselves feel better. Remember that a few years ago you were almost afraid of Christmas? These days, people have been thinking of ways to keep the tree open all year round.

In most cases, Christmas will inspire the best in people. Of course, not everyone, but this has nothing to do with my opinion. As I said before, the pandemic has made family traditions a priority. So the real reason for the whole thing is simple: we need to spend a white Christmas around these parts, and we might get it.

Recently, we hinted that White Christmas may not come easily. But the 10-day forecast I'm looking at shows that we have two good opportunities to snow on the ground during Christmas. It's not that we need a three-foot snowstorm to create a festive atmosphere, it only takes a few inches to look beautiful when we open the present.

Our first chance came on Tuesday the 18th. Now there is a 60% chance that we can get 1-3 inches of snow. Then on the 21st, we are likely to see 2-6 inches from Tuesday to Wednesday. Of course, nothing is set in stone, because this is Maine, and in terms of weather, we all know that Maine lost the bet with God.

Predicting the weather in Maine is futile, and I don’t want anyone to do that. But hey...I am willing to hedge some bets, which may work for us from now to Christmas. There is nothing to ask for a white Christmas, but Mother Nature will do what she wants. So cross your fingers and start dreaming of a white Christmas.
