Big Rock in Mars Hill launches a $2.9 million campaign for the new Quad Lift

Skiers and snowboarders in northern Maine and New Brunswick can start to look forward to a more modern experience on popular mountains. BigRock Mountain, located in Mars Mountain, announced the launch of a new capital investment activity.

Future financial situation 

General Manager Travis Kearney believes that now is the right time to invest in a new four-person chairlift that will more than double BigRock's ascent capacity. The price of the new four-person cable car is approximately US$2.9 million. Kearney said the new cable car will also "reduce lifelines, shorten cable car journeys, and provide a key investment in the future of alpine skiing in northern Maine/western New Brunswick." 

The board of directors proves that the community is supreme 

BigRock Mountain offers many projects for skiers of all ages and levels, including partnerships with 13 local schools. The board of directors has made it clear that BigRock will continue to operate in the coming decades. Darrell McCrum, Chairman of BigRock’s Board of Directors, said: “Big Rock’s Board of Directors believes the importance of investing in our community, making outdoor recreation more accessible, and maintaining the traditional vitality of the county. As the chairman of the board, I am very satisfied with this project. New to the top The cable car consolidates our goals for future development and establishes Big Rock for future generations."  

BigRock is a 501 c(3) non-profit organization. Any donations from the community and businesses are tax-exempt and will be used directly for the project. As someone who has worked at BigRock for five years, I can tell you that this "ski resort" is very special for many people and generations. I will see countless people who grew up in BigRock bring their families back, even if they live all over the country.
