Earlier this month, London’s emerging designer Zeemou Zeng, who sells on 1stdibs, Farfetch and a handful of international retailers, launched a new collection at the China International Consumer Goods Fair in Haikou, Hainan Province. The first event focused on the fashion, fine jewelry, food and automotive industries. Exhibitors include Fuli Gems, which owns the largest known olivine deposit in Dunhua City, Jilin Province, China; Zeng’s new jewelry was highlighted in the bulk gem display at the Yiqisong Nanshan Mine in Changbai Mountain.

Zeng's collection is called The Art of Travel, featuring vibrant emerald-cut Fuli peridot, and a concept inspired by playful suitcases and handbags (equipped with "wallet feet" hardware). There is also a perfume bottle shape with a diamond accent bottle cap-when the plane can't, the exotic smell can take us to faraway places.

Why choose peridot for this escapist daydream?

"Olivine is called the'jewel of the sun' and has healing powers [can] resist fear, insecurity and anxiety," Zeng said. "At the same time, peridot is one of my favorite gems. I like its incredible lime green hue. The green symbolizes hope and rebirth. So I think peridot is the perfect gem for this collection because of The Art The of Travel series aims to inspire us to pursue our dreams, inspire freedom and evoke happiness."

And evoke the idea of escaping to your favorite destination, reconnecting with distant friends and colleagues, and grasping the adventure without hesitation or fear.

He has won many awards and recognitions in the UK, and is good at modern high-end jewelry and modern luxury crystals. He studied interior design and architecture in China. This pursuit awakened his curiosity about crystal, ceramics, porcelain and precious metals, which eventually led to his interest in fine jewelry. This newfound enthusiasm brought Mr. Zeng to the UK, where he completed a master's degree in jewelry design at the Camberwell School of Art, University of the Arts London. Later, he was selected as the "Innovation Incubator" of the Royal College of Art, where he further developed his vision for the jewelry collection and brand launched in 2017.

As the international jewelry industry slowly began to reopen and regroup, Zeng told JCK that travel was the first item on his to-do list. He is expected to travel to JCK Las Vegas in August. He said: "Although the current pandemic may make travel difficult, it is still one of the must-see shows on my list."

Looking to the future, the designer aspires to "Gobi Desert in northern China, a vast arid area known for sand dunes, mountains and rare animals. The magnificence of nature and uninhabited beauty are the reasons why I like to travel here with permission. ,"He said.

"Otherwise, I would like to spend a short holiday in one of the sunniest destinations-Portugal-enjoying the natural landscape and spectacular beaches, and rejuvenating after the British blockade

"For me, the most amazing places on earth are places with seas or deserts. Pure and powerful. Whenever I approach any of them, I feel free-it brings me joy and excites. My imagination," he said.

Needless to say, when you are ready, we are ready!
